Description:
The string quartet was recorded under Gould's supervision five years after it was composed, and the performance thoroughly reflects Gould's unstable inner emotional swings and introspective view of art at the time. The Sinfonia Quartet was formed in 1953 by members of the Cleveland Orchestra to perform the American premiere of Gould's string quartets. Later, the quartet was invited by Gould to appear on the CBC TV program. (C)RS
