Dig holes twice as large as iris rhizomes, loosen soil and add compost before placing rhizome in soil with pointed ends up and roots down. Place rhizomes 1\/2 inch beneath the surface of the soil. Great for naturalizing in moist, wetlands as well as bog areas of the pond. When placing Blue Flag Iris \u003cem\u003ein\u003c\/em\u003e \u003cem\u003ethe pond\u003c\/em\u003e, use a wide container with holes, a planting basket or fabric planter using loam soil. Plant rhizomes with 1\/2 inch of soil above the rhizome and place in the pond with 3 inches of water above the rhizomes, in full sun.
