Buffalo, New York’s Cemetery Echo emerge from the shadows with Civitas Lacrimarum, the band’s debut full-length and most ambitious descent yet into their self-styled world of “Haunt ’n’ Roll.” Blending blackened deathrock, gothic post-punk, occult rock, thrash, and dark melodic grandeur, Cemetery Echo have crafted a record equally suited for the cemetery gates, the midnight dance floor, and the back alley dive bar.
Steeped in 1980s horror nostalgia, gothic romance, occult mysticism, and dystopian atmosphere, Cemetery Echo have rapidly become a standout force within the underground dark alternative scene. Their reputation has grown through previous releases with Hammerheart Records and Sunshine Ward, as well as immersive live “creepshows” alongside acts such as Unto Others, Nox Novacula, and Panopticon. Bridging goth, punk, and metal subcultures alike, the band has cultivated a singular identity rooted in atmosphere, theatricality, and infectious songwriting.
On Civitas Lacrimarum, Cemetery Echo push beyond the gothic romantic aggression of earlier material into darker and more anthemic territory. Across the album, black metal intensity collides with deathrock swagger, post-punk gloom, thrash energy, and horror-soaked melody, creating a soundtrack for a crumbling modern world.
Mixed and mastered at Blackheart Studio with visuals by Sadist Art Design, Civitas Lacrimarum deepens the mythology and dystopian themes surrounding the band while sharpening every aspect of their sound. Equal parts sinister, rebellious, and theatrical, Cemetery Echo continue to provide sanctuary for all creatures of the night who wear leather, sunglasses, and fangs. For fans of Unto Others, Grave Pleasures, Then Comes Silence and The Sisters of Mercy.
