Co - Op Saison - Farmhouse Ale By Soul Barrel Brewing Co.

Soul Barrel is built within the old cellars of the Drakenstein Co-Op, the first winery Co-Op in South Africa, founded in 1906.  Drakenstein’s fertile valley has served generations of farmers by yielding fruit, grain and grapes for centuries.

Co-Op Saison honors the farms heritage by using local shiraz and apricots, along with Soul Barrels home made malt and house mixed yeast culture native to their brewery.  The fermentation and ingredients represent a style of brewing as old as the winery Co-Op, giving the beer a distinct sense of place and time.  It is a complex beer, refreshing and flavorful, distinguished in its elegance and depth.  It’s part of their mission to create ales and lagers that reflect the Cape Winelands.
