1920s Day Dress Long Sleeves Burgundy Red Silk Beige Lace M /L
Very rare piece of luxury day wear from the 1920s, this long sleeved beauty is cut out of a shimmering, burgundy red satin and looks like a three piece but is all one frock. It pulls on overhead and features a "jacket" like top with a deep V neckline and double row of buttons (decorative) at center hip line, over a midi skirt cut straight down the legs. There is a cream lace (sheer) inset at the center of the torso that has a small, sailor collar and a scarf panel hanging from center. It is all connected! Note the cream lace cuffs!
There is also a sash tie in red silk at the sides that is meant to fasten the dress at the rear - giving you flexibility with how tight you want it and making me wonder if this wasn't a maternity piece! We show it both tied loose and tight, where the waist becomes a bit more accentuated.
No tags.
Fabric: looks and feels like silk and lace
Fit: M to L depending on how tight you tie the sash bands
Measurements, untied, laid flat--
Shoulders 16"
Sleeves 23"
Chest 40"
Drop waist 40" (hips area)
Length 46"
Condition: extraordinary for a piece of this age and delicacy. At first glance, there seems to be no imperfections and it is MORE than wearable as is. However, if you lay it flat in direct light and seriously hunt for flaws, you will find that the interior of the collar has a little bit of discoloration, and that the very lowest portion of the skirt has faint traces of black discoloration in a few patches here or there. There is also a miniscule tear just to the right of one of the buttons. Again, you have very diligently search for these issues to spot them.
