Otis 2500 Spinning Reel

The Otis 2500 spinning reel was customized specifically for inshore saltwater fishermen who are targeting strong fish on lightweight gear without having to break the bank.

After 4+ years of product design and testing, this reel has proven to be a fish catching machine that is super fun to fish with.

It weighs in at just 7 ounces which is extremely light, but it has enough power to handle overslot redfish and big snook. It has a smooth carbon drag that has enough power to effectively use 40 lb braid (although we recommend 7 lb to 15 lb for optimal casting performance).

After seeing how this reel goes above and beyond the normal duty for controlling big fish, we decided to name it after Salt Strong's mascot, Otis, given that he always is sure to deliver an abundance of energy when a big fish is on the line.

• Line Recommendation = 6 to 15 lb braid
• Drag = Super Smooth 14 lb
• Line Capacity = 220 yards of 10 lb line if fully spooled

Line Spooling Tip: We recommend adding a mono backing up to a 1/4" gap, and then fill the rest with 10 lb braid which will result in 130 to 150 yards of braid so you get 2 spools out of a 300 yard spool of braid.

This reel was custom designed for Salt Strong members who enjoy catching big saltwater fish with light tackle, so the warranty program is split between members and non-members giving members an industry leading 2-year replacement coverage program.

Plan for Insider Club Members

• 1-Year Limited Warranty: The Otis 2500 is protected for a full year for any manufacturer defects (these are super rare, and most often are realized on the first use)
• 2-Year Replacement Coverage: If your reel has any issues (even if caused by an accidental dunk in the water) at any point within 2 years of original purchase, you can get a replacement for 50% off of the MSRP price as long as you’ve had continuous Insider membership (if any gaps of membership, then warranty coverage automatically transitions to the Non-Member status below).

Plan for Non-Members

• 1-Year Limited Warranty: The Otis 2500 is protected for a full year for any manufacturer defects (these are super rare, and most often are realized on the first use)
• 1-Year Replacement Coverage: If your reel has any issues that causes it to no longer be smooth (even if caused by an accidental dunk in the water) at any point within 1 year of original purchase, you can get a replacement for 50% off of the MSRP price (1 time use per customer)
