An ambitiously shaped crystal, especially when you consider it was one of Seiko's earliest examples of a \u003cem\u003esapphire \u003c\/em\u003ecrystal. This style of faceted crystal can only be found 8010 variant of the 6156 series.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNot COSC Certified.\u003c\/strong\u003e After a fallout with the Swiss in 1968, Seiko decided to shun the COSC certification process, instead creating their own \"Chronometer\" style of test, and the first two graduates were the VFA and the 6156 Special. The 6156 Special was certified to an accuracy of -\/+3 seconds per day - a remarkable feat, even by today's standards.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe Excellence.\u003c\/strong\u003e The 6156-8010 on offer today embodies this spirit of excellence. This rare Hardened Stainless Steel (HSS) variant features two vertical facets on its sapphire crystal, a bi-lingual quick-set day\/date complication, and the iconic, solid gold, medallion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"_1qeIAgB0cPwnLhDF9XSiJM\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe Case.\u003c\/strong\u003e The case demonstrates Taro Tanaka’s “Grammar of Design” philosophy, while its 36mm size is as classic as Grand Seiko gets. The sapphire crystal is immaculate, and the HSS case only has mild signs of wear. The edges and original brush marks are sharp.
