Often mistaken for a palm, the Madagascar Palm is actually a thick-stemmed succulent that stores water in its trunk and grows elegant, palm-like leaves at the top. Each one we ship stands around 10–15 inches tall the perfect size to create a tropical statement indoors or out.
This striking plant features a silver-gray trunk covered in spines, topped with a lush crown of green leaves that fan out like a palm. Over time, it can grow into a dramatic tree up to 6 feet tall in containers. A living sculpture that brings desert elegance to patios and sunny rooms.
In spring and summer, mature Madagascar Palms produce clusters of white, lightly fragrant flowers. They thrive on neglect, loving bright sunlight and minimal water. Simply give them a sunny spot and let their sculptural beauty shine.
Carefully unpack your Madagascar Palm as soon as it arrives. Place it in a bright area with filtered light for a few days to let it acclimate after shipping. Once settled, you can move it into full sun. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
Use a pot with excellent drainage and fill it with a gritty cactus or succulent soil mix. Avoid overly rich or moisture-retentive soils. Once potted, wait about a week before watering to prevent root stress. Always keep it in a warm location protected from cold drafts or frost.
