This is a pair of antique sprung dumbbells. An American, steel wrist training exercise aid by Eugen Sandow, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Eugen Sandow (1867 - 1925) was a famous bodybuilder of the late Victorian period, who created exercise programmes and equipment. A pioneer of muscle display performances, he has been dubbed by some as 'The Father of Modern Bodybuilding.'
This is a wonderful and rare pair of antique sprung dumbbells, associated with one of the modern era's most famous bodybuilders. Great patination and as useful today as in the Victorian period. Delivered polished and ready to enjoy.
