Many famous Tudor lives were claimed by poisonous beauty regimes—Kitty Fisher, Maria Gunning, and even Queen Elizabeth I were victims of the fabled 'Venetian Ceruse,' a finishing powder made from white lead. Boasting total purity in the face of competitors' inferior products, which were thought to be bulked up with chalk, it seems "less poisonous" wasn't on trend at the time. This fragrance is a nod to those who lost their lives in pursuit of an alabaster glow befitting a true period bombshell.
A white powder accord forms the core of the composition, built around natural heliotropin and old-school nitromusks. Layered underneath is a vintage-inspired chypre structure, including natural bois de rose, Cyprian labdanum, green oakmoss, Mysore sandalwood, and a 15-year-aged civet tincture.
Top: Rosewood, Heliotrope, Iris
Mid: Coumarin, Labdanum, Civet
Base: Sandalwood, Musk, Oakmoss
